Have you ever looked back at your ex and wondered, "How did I ever fall in love with that person when we were clearly incompatible?" It wasn't that you weren't compatible. According to a recent survey, our preferences evolve over time. To be considered 'The Perfect Man,' men must possess certain qualities, and those parameters shift dramatically as women age. The survey, titled 'The Ages of Man,' breaks down what women want from their relationships with men by age range.

The study's findings are summarised below:

18-24 years old

In their late teens and early twenties, women's main concern is that their partner gets along with their friends. "47 percent said they would look for a relationship with someone their friends would approve of." Furthermore, women of this age are far more likely to date a man who is in better physical shape than them, but shared interests in books, music, and films are extremely important to them.

25-34 years old

Most women prefer to focus on their careers at this stage, but physical attractiveness and sexual compatibility are very important to them. They also place a premium on a man's level of ambition. This is a key trait for two-thirds of those polled in this age group.

35-44 years old

According to the study, older men become more attractive to women in their late thirties and early forties. According to Dr. Karen Ruskin, a licenced marriage and family psychotherapist, this could be because they want to settle down and start a family. "Women are conscious of their biological clocks ticking, which is why they want someone established, stable, and successful," she continues. They are no longer in love with a man for his attractiveness, fun, or social fit with their friends, she claims. According to the study, "73% said they would be willing to see someone five years senior to them," and a man's manners are essential at this age."Only 1% of the women polled said they would date a man with bad manners."

45-54 years old

The key word in this day and age is security. "Ninety-five percent of women said they wanted a partner with whom they felt secure." Women are also less picky at this age than at any other age, but they still want a man with a high income, which is important to women regardless of their age. Surprisingly, 54% of women said they'd be open to seeing a younger man.
