Superstitions solely concern good and bad luck for newlyweds, and there's always that one family member who has earned a PhD (Permanent Head Damage) in superstitious beliefs. We decided to compile a list of the most widely held and popular wedding superstitions in India...
1. Black and white clothing should be avoided at Indian weddings since they are considered mourning or unlucky colours.
2. It is thought that the darker the bride's henna, the more her in-laws and spouse will adore her.
3. It is considered auspicious to throw rice at the newlyweds during their wedding. It is a symbol of fertility and abundance.
4. Seeing a black cat cross your path on your wedding day is considered good luck. Seeing an open grave or a lizard, on the other hand, is bad luck.
5. It is considered a terrible omen if boiling milk spills during, before, or after the wedding. It is interpreted as a forewarning of impending calamity.
6. If the bride walks inside the new residence with her left foot first, it is considered unfortunate.
